My father, Aaron Zweig, was a Sergeant in the 82nd AB, 508th PIR, I believe.
He jumped on D-Day near St. Mer Ingles and near Nijmegan Bridge in Market Garden. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was seriously wounded on Christmas Day, 1944 near Vielsalm, Belgium.
He was disabled for the remainder of his life, with a withered left arm and passed away in April, 1984, at the age of 71.
He did live a very productive life, was married for 35 years and raised two children. Anybody have any knowledge of my Dad's activities, it would be appreciated to hear from you.

My father was in the 101st and I think the the 502 PIR. I know he was part of Operation Marketgarden. I have some DD214's that indicate he was also at the Battle of the Bulge.

I have a picture of him in uniform with the Screaming Eagle on his left shoulder but he has on the left side of his hat a parchute with a plane over the cords of the plane. I know he was not in the gliders and I have seen the patch for the gliders and this is not the same.

Would anyone know what this patch/pin is for?

Thank you for a wonderful website. My mother, Irene Mann Bennett, sister, and I were priviliged to attend the Remember September festivities in September 2009. We were especially honored to lay a wreath at the monument for my uncle, Joe E. Mann. We made many new friends among the Dutch. We are looking forward to attending another Remember September celebration in the near future. Thank you for remembering the sacrifice of our soldiers.

Hallo, ik ben samen met mijn collega's op zaterdag 19 september jl. op bezoek geweest bij het prachtige kleine museum aan de brug bij Son.

My father was Second Lieutenant Jerry Fitzgerald 441st TCG 99th Squadron.He participated in Mission Albany on D-Day,the Marseilles landings and was shot down over Grosbeek, Holland on Sept.17th 1944 during Operation Market Garden after dropping members of the 82nd Airborne on their DZ. He spent the rest of the war in Stalag Luft 3 and then Stalag 7A.
He was awarded the Air Medal with twin oak leaf clusters and a Purple Heart.
He passed away in 1991 after forty-two years of marriage to my Mom and having raised seven children.
