Thank you for a wonderful website. My mother, Irene Mann Bennett, sister, and I were priviliged to attend the Remember September festivities in September 2009. We were especially honored to lay a wreath at the monument for my uncle, Joe E. Mann. We made many new friends among the Dutch. We are looking forward to attending another Remember September celebration in the near future. Thank you for remembering the sacrifice of our soldiers.

Hallo, ik ben samen met mijn collega's op zaterdag 19 september jl. op bezoek geweest bij het prachtige kleine museum aan de brug bij Son.
Bij binnekomst draaide er een zelf gemaakt filmpje waar ik heel graag een copie van zou willen hebben. Uiteraard ben ik bereid om een donatie te doen toekomen aan de stichting.

My father was Second Lieutenant Jerry Fitzgerald 441st TCG 99th Squadron.He participated in Mission Albany on D-Day,the Marseilles landings and was shot down over Grosbeek, Holland on Sept.17th 1944 during Operation Market Garden after dropping members of the 82nd Airborne on their DZ. He spent the rest of the war in Stalag Luft 3 and then Stalag 7A.
He was awarded the Air Medal with twin oak leaf clusters and a Purple Heart.
He passed away in 1991 after forty-two years of marriage to my Mom and having raised seven children.

My father was Pvt. Glenn H. Ward, 82nd AB, 508 PIR, F Co. from October 1942 to KIA on January 30, 1945 near St. Vith during Battle of the Bulge. He was seriously wounded after jumping during the D-Day invasion and spent the summer/fall recuping in England. He volunteered for the pathfinders and saw action next in Dec. 1944 until he was killed. So many of his letters I read and reread tell the story. I'm looking to contact Daniel Coduys, a native of Belgium who is employed at the Regional Security office, American Embassy, Brussels. About 15 years ago he and his son did a very special thing for me in Belgium near where my father died.

My father, James Pratt, was in D Company, 508th PIR. He was at Normandy and Market Garden. I believe he told me that the weather and fighting were incredibly fierce. Somehow his unit got ahead of the flanks in one battle and were totally exposed. He said they had to backpedal a bit - the only time they had to give back ground apparently.

My father, Billy G. Hahnen, was a member of Company G, 505, 82nd Airborne. He made 4 combat jumps, including the Holland jump. On October 8, 1944, he was wounded severely in both legs by a tree burst near Groesbeek. My father was sent back to the States. He was awarded the Purple Heart for that and also the Silver Star and Bronze Star for action in France during D-Day. We miss him every day!
